At one point in everyone's life we're forced to find ourselves. But for fourteen year old Alajah, finding yourself becomes not only a challenge but a journey. A mission with no way out. After spending majority of her life in an orphanage, her life takes a turn for the dangerous. First she's forced to face the fact that she's not normal. Her powers are no longer caged inside, but they've been released and they're uncontrollable and more importantly . . . deadly. Second, Robert, the orphanage's recluse, seems to know more about her newly acquired abilities then she does. Can she trust his knowledge or will he lead her to a terrifying demise? And finally when the owner of the orphanage is trying to kill her, she is forced to find her parents. The same parents that left her for dead eight years ago.

Let me tell you a story about the day the world died. The day all the things that go bump in the night, tragically let themselves be known to the world. Wow. Sounds dramatic, right? The day the monsters, as we know them as, invaded, wasn't as unusual as you would think. It was my first day of college, actually. I had been jumpy all day, but I figured it was just jitters. I would start living on my own, after all. But this... this was different. This man... was attacking another man. One guy had a gun-a sawed off shotgun. I can vaguely remember screaming, then falling into a stunned silence as the man before him morphed into something not human. A large, animalistic creature with sharp teeth that walked on all fours and had shaggy fur covering its body, he lunged, and tore the weapon from the shocked person's hands. I remember running. I remember being knocked brutally to the ground. I remember seeing a bloody little girl, her eyes completely black, as she leaned down, so tantalizingly close to my unprotected throat. Sharp incisors extended, she leaned in, nuzzling me. I remember taking out the mace my mother gave me, though I had a feeling it would do no good. I can't remember how I survived that day. *** This is a werewolf love story, I'll just go ahead and throw that out there. I know not everyone likes the cliché vampire/werewolf thing, but this story is definitely not going to be a cliché right off the bat. So enjoy, my loves.
