It's been a year since the events of Sundays with Charles. Charles and Erik are a happily married couple, living together and raising Erik's two children together. However, with Charles' busy schedule he's working almost all the time and the two find it hard to actually spend quality time together. On top of that Pietro experiences certain troubles at school that he is not willing to share with his family, while Erik begins to suspect Charles too is keeping secrets of his own. Sunday is long gone and weekdays take over. In the midst of problems and challenges it is difficult to keep the ray of sunlight from a happy distant Sunday.

This is a sequel to Taming the Wild. Charles and Erik are a happy couple, although they still have to keep the true nature of their relationship a secret - gay mutants are not always welcomed with open arms in the old times, especially if they're teaching children. Despite that inconvenience Charles and Erik are happy and very much in love. They still have to come up with a clever way to explain things to Peter and Wanda who are curious about the changes they've sensed recently in the dynamics between Charles and their daddy. Charles is already running his special school with help from Erik, Hank, Moira, Raven and a few others. They have new students but Charles and Erik regularly travel to recruit more. This doesn't always go without a few bumps on the road. Meanwhile Raven is not so sure if the quiet monotonous life of a schoolteacher is cut out for her. She finds herself daydreaming of her previous adventures and the feeling of fulfillment they brought to her, increasingly. This doesn't go unnoticed by Hank who doesn't have the courage to ask her to stay even if his heart is breaking at the prospect of her leaving them. New characters appear. Some jealous!Erik because who doesn't want to see that, right? Also mutants cannot hide their existence forever. Slowly the word about mutants is beginning to spread and that on itself would cause considerable unrest among most humans.

It's been a month since Thanos came to Earth. The world is in tatters and pieces, with the remaining Avengers still struggling to understand what's going on. Now, Adelaide Lehnsherr has lost the love of her life, Bucky Barnes. She has a daughter soon after Thanos comes to Earth and wipes out half of all life, but still, she is in pain from losing everything she's ever loved. When an opportunity comes to take out Thanos and retrieve the stones... when a way arrives for them to undo the past few months, she takes the chance, as do the rest of her fellow Avengers. Erik has disappeared into the unknown, vanished after he was exposed as a mutated tyrant on national television. The Whitehouse is in ruins and the world is in hysteria after the exposure of advanced beings. Mutants are in more danger than ever before, Erik, Charles and Raven's faces were broadcast internationally. Charles has returned home with Hank, and relapsed into his mindless alcohol fueled, mind-numbing drugged up ways; tumbling back into a crippling depression. Erik cannot be trusted to be left alone, scheming and dreaming up a new strategic master plan to rid the world of the un-mutated "Neanderthals", and replenish his squad of mutants -- with his own children: Wanda and Pietro. He must be found and stopped before he gets the chance to strike again and vanquish all hope of redemption. Charles dreams of bringing Erik back in and teaching him how to use his power for good; to teach him that being a mutant is a gift, not a curse; to teach him that just because someone stumbles - loses their way, it doesn't mean they are lost forever. But to ever foster any hope of restoring Erik to his former pacifistic glory, he must accept his own gifts and use them; no matter how much it pains him. He must suffer for the sake of others: for the sake of Erik. How much would you sacrifice for others? How much would you suffer for those you love?
