The Super Mario Odyssey Movie is based on the game Super Mario Odyssey but Bowser won't marry the princess as he had a bad experience with having her marry him. It also adds characters not in the game and replaces the Broodals with the Koopalings.

The eight kids of Bowser are never in their own spotlights. They're always fighting to be their dad's favorite.
