Elizabeth Smith has known Stef Foster and Brandon Foster since she was born. Stef and Lena are her godmothers, Mike Foster is her godfather and Brandon is her god-brother. She and Mariana are best friends while her and Jesus are dating. They've been dating for 4 years.

Oaklynn, or Oaklie, is a guarded teen with a traumatic past who finds a home with the Fosters. She bonds with Mariana, Callie, and the family, slowly opening up. Through music, she joins Brandon and Matt's band and lands the role of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, growing closer to Matt-until a mistake at a party strains their relationship. Facing bullying and past trauma, Oaklie finds strength in her new family. When Stef and Lena ask to adopt her, she finally feels safe and wanted, embracing her place as a Foster.
