The song was found inside a guitar case that John Lennon had been using and sharing in the studio with CHEAP TRICK as he was recording DOUBLE FANTASY and MILK and HONEY bak in December 1980. The song was verified by YOKO ONO to be his. YOKO ONO also verified that the song was started in MARCH 1980 with the help of PAUL MCCARTNEY adding the 'Love me do, Let it be' verse to the song. When Paul and Linda visited him in New York before Paul was to leave for the WINGS Japan tour. John Lennon had re discovered the song in NOVEMBER 1980. LENNON took the song out on December 8, 1980 writing the last verse to it and was going to lay it down on tape after Yoko finished ' WALKING ON THIN ICE'. But the night was getting late. Jonh and Yoko decided to go home to be with SEAN, John Lennon decided to do the song the next night, so as he used to do when The Beatles were on tour he would stuff it inside the flap inside his guitar case.
