ACID BLOOM
The world didn't end in fire; it ended in acid.
For two years, the Fog-a corrosive, venomous mist-has scoured the earth, dissolving steel, burning flesh, and leaving behind a landscape of ruin haunted by the infected Warped.
Parker (15) has survived by being hard, fast, and alone. Her life is a relentless cycle of scavenging and sealing herself in, trusting no one. She carries a heavy wrench and the quiet certainty that emotion is a weakness that will get her killed.
But her survival rules shatter in the ruins of a diner when she intervenes to save Lily (14). Small, terrified, and utterly helpless, Lily is everything Parker vowed to avoid. Yet, in Lily's wide, traumatized eyes, Parker finds something terrifyingly new: a reason to live, not just survive.
As they flee a vengeful enemy and race against the approaching Seasonal Shift-the deepest, most lethal wave of the Fog-their bond deepens from necessity to fierce, protective love. Their journey becomes a desperate fight to secure a safe haven, a fight made infinitely more complicated when a tiny, abandoned baby is placed in their arms.
Now responsible for a found family they never asked for, Parker and Lily must carve out a future in a world that wants them dead. Their love may be the only thing strong enough to keep the acid from consuming them entirely.
