Published Sept 2014 and well received. Wattpad genres don't quite hit the spot for this intro; the story touches New Adult, LGBT and coming of age. When James Farrow's father decided he wouldn't have his 15 year old son under his roof any more, the boy was taken into care. Now James is 18 and is no longer the responsibility of Social Services. He returns home to an uncertain reception. His volatile father has mellowed over time but his son seems intent to challenge his restraint. In the three years apart, James has taken the first steps toward the future he wants. He wants to make the transition to being the girl he wishes he had been born as. With a defiant brother and a vicious former friend opposing him, James resumes a relationship with Tina, his friend since they were small and she is the only support he feels he can rely on. When Tina declares her love for James, he is thrown into greater confusion realising he has feelings for her.

1 in 11,000 people are diagnosed with gender dysphoria. That’s over 5,000 people in the UK, 28,000 people in the U.S. That is just those diagnosed, it doesn’t take into account those who ignore their feelings about their identities. Those who suffer without saying, those who try and live ‘normal’ lives. I know this poem paints a sad picture for trans persons and that, for the majority this is not the reality but if it makes you think, if it gives you pause... maybe you could open your heart to those who do not get to live as they should without judgement. The cover? The blue rose? Love and depression in one.

I wrote this for a friend and her partner to mark a Pride event for them. At the time most of the erotic writing I created was heterosexual but with a few kinks thrown in. I wanted this to convey the same feel but with an added smile to the resolution of the story

Unexpected, she found love. For a moment, an instant, she thought it had left her.
