She is an Orange, and all Oranges are supposed to be dead with the Reds. When she finally escapes camp and finds herself on her own in the wilderness of West Virginia, she runs in to Liam, Chubs, and Zu, fellow teens on the run from the corrupt government. Together, they run from bounty hunters, rummage for food, and try to find sanctuary in East River, all while becoming family along the way. (This is just a fun little play on the Darkest Minds series :). It has the same premise and characters (Except for the original protagonist and other minor original characters), but the events are different and so are some elements of the plot. Enjoy!

This story takes place before Liam meets Ruby but after he escapes.

IAAN- Idiopathic Adolescent Acute Neurodegeneration. It kills 90% of kids under ten. It's the disease that plagues my world. And no one knows what caused it. At first the people feared the disease because it killed 90% of America's children. But then, they feared it because of what it did to the ones who lived. The ones like me. It turned us into freaks, as the adults like to say. The disease gave us special abilities. We were strong. The government feared us. As the government does when it fears things, it locked us away. They segregated us by colour, by danger, and sent us to live in camps. But I won't have that. Jia Thorin won't have that. I will do whatever it takes to stop this, including joining the Children's League, an organization that advocates for the kids of America, the ones who live. The ones like me.
