After listening to the 13th tape in the 13 tape box, Clay Jensen thinks it's all over. He knows why Hannah Baker committed suicide. But, 2 more tapes show up upon Clays doorstep in the aftermath of his friend Tyler's testimony, he thinks of it as nothing but a sick joke. Probably from Bryce. But Justin urges him to listen, and he does. What he finds sends him spiraling.

Hannah is told that she has amnesia after an incident at the Crestmont, and so Clay not only has to teach her the basics, including who he is and who she once was, but she also has to learn to fall in love with him all over again
