I work in a public library in real life. Often, when a kid gets their first library card, I'll say silly things to not do with their books like not to take them surfing. I'm tempted to turn what I say into a picture book but I can't draw, can't afford to commission someone to draw it, and wouldn't know how to publish it even if I did. I actually wanted to do this in a rhyme, but it wasn't coming to me. So I ended up writing it this way. Keep in mind I'm publishing the rough draft here. I kind of want to see what might happen if someone who knows what they're doing gets inspired and wants to team up on this idea. I don't know what story type it should be, honestly. It's sort of non-fiction as I took things from my real life and from real libraries, but it's also sort-of fiction. No category actually fits 100%. And yes, the microwave thing IS something that really happened for awhile. "Doctor" Oz told people to put library books and used books in the microwave to kill bed bugs. What happened is any book with metal foil on the cover would end up with holes burned in the cover. Yes, it was all adults who should've known better who did it. Just another reason I can't stand "Dr." Oz.

Gracie Jiles is a twenty-something who has yet to hit her stride in the "real world" but finds inspiration when a librarian, Chuck, introduces her to a book series that is unfinished. Written by an anonymous author, Gracie is encouraged to write the ending to this obscure piece of literature as well as make a decision to accept an offer that is presented once she finishes it. This is a story about friendship and realizing the beauty of selfless dedication that ends with a surprise that even Gracie, lover of reading and having a vast imagination for the extraordinary, could not have foreseen herself.
