Even the most enlightened men in the land, the mysterious brotherhood known as the Craftsmen, believe that a woman must be guided by a man to find her destiny. But Lilitu already knows her destiny: To bring order to the empire and protect knowledge from those who are too weak to understand it. Her unapologetic ambition, however, is challenged by a rising initiate of the Craftsmen, a man who antagonizes her at every turn and threatens to plunge the nation into degradation and hypocrisy. But Lilitu refuses to be put her in place. No one defies the star-blazing queen.

The libretto for a 2-act Broadway-style musical about a revolution that plays out on a fictional Latin American coffee plantation. And Diego, the revolutionary leader, is in love with the Dictator's daughter... Love, politics, violence, and consequences. Inspired by my time and travels in Nicaragua, in the lingering aftermath of the Sandinista revolution. Unlike some of my other works of theatre, this one was never staged or published - the large cast, ambitious staging, and musical accompaniment all proved beyond my means at the time.
