Dr. Lilian 'Lily' Hendrix was born along the Mississippi delta, a Choctaw girl raised in a tight-knit community where responsibility, endurance, and care for others were learned early. From childhood, Lily displayed a remarkable intellect and an unshakable focus. At just fourteen years old, she defied every social and institutional expectation of her era by becoming the youngest girl ever accepted into medical school. Four years later, at eighteen, she graduated as a fully licensed physician-an achievement nearly unheard of for any woman, and extraordinary for a Native girl in the early twentieth century. Lily began her career at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, where the volume of patients and severity of injuries forged her into a decisive, unflinching doctor. When the United States entered World War II, she joined the Army Medical Corps, refusing a safer stateside position in favor of frontline service. Her skill, speed, and ability to keep soldiers alive under impossible conditions quickly earned her a reputation that traveled through military ranks. That reputation led to a rare request: Lily was assigned as a temporary physician to the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment during training at Camp Toccoa. From there, she followed the men across Europe-treating shattered bodies in field hospitals, barns, and improvised aid stations, often under fire. To the soldiers, she became a steady presence amid chaos, known for her calm voice, relentless work, and refusal to abandon the wounded. After the war, Lily returned home believing her service was complete. Instead, she was informed that her wartime work would be classified, her contributions omitted from official records. For decades, her name remained absent from history, her heroism known only to those she had saved. Her story remained buried until 2001, when Band of Brothers brought renewed attention to the 506th and finally revealed her truth.

The Soldier of Stars ~ Band of Brothers [1] A young woman who finds peace in the stars, and let's them guide her even through the darkness that might overcome her. __________ Hazel Parker of the WAC, Catherine McCown of SPARs and Elizabeth Elliot of the Cadet Nurses' Corps take part in Operation Virago which will send 250 women to the front lines to fight alongside men. The government, along with the War Department and direction from General Eisenhower decide this is a secret, covert operation that the public will be shielded from, to see how integrating women into war will work. Each of the 250 women come with their own ambitions of what they want from war and why they signed up in the first place to be apart of this program. They become split into each of the 5 branches with leverage from each of the branch commanders, and split into groups of 2, 3, or 4 women and are placed into their different respective branches. The enlisted men of each branch, well, they do not know exactly how to approach a woman who, at the moment, has more military training and experience by the time they get placed into their positions. Hazel Parker, Catherine McCown and Elizabeth Elliot are placed into the 101st Airborne, the first 3 women to be apart of the Airborne. A few other women head off to the 82nd. These 3 women become part of the 506th and are put under 2nd Battalion, in Easy Company. After completing two years of service as regular infantry, First Sergeant Megan Bonti finally decides to request a transfer to be a part of the paratroops. She had just about had enough of her commanding officer underestimating her abilities and wanted something new. She had been one of the first qualified paratroops and thus decided to transfer to where her skills could be better used. When she first arrives at Toccoa, she isn't quite sure what she's in for. The men seem welcoming enough but are quite a rowdy bunch. Despite being their new senior NCO, they quickly take her under their wing and she's very much like a sister to them, dubbing her 'Angel' or 'Angel Eyes'. This does not go unnoticed by a certain Lt. Nixon who finds himself wanting to know more about this woman. #1 in - maybeoneday

Ad Astra Per Aspera is the sequel to The Soldier of Stars. ----------- Waking up disoriented and inside a hospital, that has the dingy army issued light bulbs, the rough cots and the smell of despair is not how Hazel thought her new year would start, especially with the pulsing wound that lies in her side. Hazel Parker, severely injured and mentally unstable, lies in wait at a field hospital, as Easy Company continues to battle the tortures of the war. Catherine McCown, Elizabeth Elliot and Easy Company, are struggling, especially after the major losses of Bill Guanere and Joe Toye or others like Donald Hoobler and especially Skip Muck and Alex Penkala and most importantly, the tiny sniper Hazel Parker. Each loss pushed Easy into a darker time, a darker reality that they would ultimately have to face if they were to make the attack on Foy. They know the war is coming to a close soon, it has to be, but with the current loses and the shine of hope that is slowly dwindling, Easy barely stays afloat as they manage to fend off the town of Foy and proceed to Alsace, France.
