Many people think of chickens as egg- or meat-dispensers - but when I look at a chicken, I see something different. I see a being with feelings and a personality, capable of loving humans and other chickens like family. I see an animal that deserves a good home, where it can thrive without fear of being slaughtered at a young age. I see a friend. This book is to be filled with stories of my chickens, past or present, from before I started my chicken sanctuary or after. Tales of those chickens' lives, struggles, and how they impacted my life.

These are stories I collected from people who were willing to tell their life stories. My goal was to help people relate to others so they wouldn't feel alone in their situations. I know what it feels like to have nobody understand you, and I wanted to give people the chance to connect with somebody who does. I also wanted to let the stories uplift people and give them the strength to keep on living.
