Am I alive or just existing?

To live a life without finding your gift is to deprive one self. There are too many that walk this world without ever finding their passion or their purpose. They become content with life. They have dreams, but let it go because life gets in the way. There always seems to be something more important to attend to. I was one of those people until I stopped, questioned and searched for my gift and now that I have found it there is no going back. I will keep it close and nurture it for without my gift I am not me. With this poem I hope that I can awaken your gift, aid you to find your passion, to dust off a forgotten hobby or a dream and bring it to life once more.

How do you fix something that you never broke? How can you stop bad things from happening to you? Alvar is a teenage boy that finds himself in a life crises, no matter what he does or where he is, bad things just keep happening. Often times people can look perfect on the outside but be rotten and corrupt at their core, however in Alvar's case, he really tries his best to do the right thing but things just don't work out the way he wants. Life doesn't work out the way he wants. And it's not just a clumsy trip off the curb of the road, people have died being associated with him. The occurrences are so frequent that his Abuela calls him, "Demon cursed." See through the eyes of this poor unfortunate protagonist as he tries to unravel the reasons why his life is full of tribulation.

This is a poignant tale that follows the journey of a young boy whose dream to join the armed forces is overshadowed by heartbreak and loss.
