One night, a young man sat all alone in the darkness. He said nothing. He didn't cry. He simply stared into the distance, feeling a deep emptiness that he couldn't explain to anyone. Then a girl came to him. She noticed how alone he was and simply sat down beside him. She didn't ask any questions. They both stayed silent. She stayed by his side, gave him her presence, and waited until he was finally ready to speak. After a while, he looked at her, and suddenly, the darkness didn't feel quite as dark anymore. She wasn't an angel, she had no wings, and she couldn't simply make all his negative feelings disappear. But she was there. He began to smile and quietly said, "Velumi." She looked at him questioningly. "Velumi?" He smiled. "Velumi. My light in the darkness." She hadn't come to brighten his world. But that's how it felt to him. And from that day on, he called her only Velumi - the light in his darkness.
