After the sudden death of her grandmother leaves her alone in the world, Yunae strikes out on a journey to find a place where she belongs. Just as she's beginning to give up hope, she meets a strange, shadowy man named Xyaie. She is immediately swept into a life she never imagined possible and begins to find answers to questions she never thought to ask. Is it possible that a man she hardly knows holds the answers to her past? Excerpt: "Is it enough?" she asked, wildly eager for him to try. She was invigorated by the magic. His response was a movement: he swept his hand through the sky, cutting into the air as he did when they first met. Unlike then, however, the cut did not fade. It remained; a jagged blank in her vision-a color too dark to truly see. She felt like howling in victory, caught up in the thrill of it all. Instead, though, she turned to him, triumphant, "We did it!" "We did," he echoed, his voice was solemn, not at all reflecting her victorious cheer. The exhilaration vanished. "I can't go," she told him, understanding. "I cannot bear you safely through the void," the explanation itself was an apology. She offered a smile, true in spirit; she wanted him to go home safely, "It's alright. I understand. Thank you for everything." He opened his mouth as if to reply, but no words came out. Instead, she suddenly felt him press something into her hand and then his lips were on hers. The kiss was gentle and sweet, but she did not return it-it was over too quickly. She was too surprised react, and then he was gone. The shock it caused almost stunned her, but not quite. She had made a decision. She rushed toward the gap in the sky faster than she knew she could move. She threw herself into it; falling, hurtling, caught.

Normalcy and complacency are the cornerstones of Thorn's existence, the only one he desires to please is himself. But with a war approaching, his very way of life is threatened. In valdenvera the elite children when they reach the age of thirteen go to the lake of finding to call to there spirit animal, some never get there animal but those who do then must head to the academy of magical creatures to find out what special magic they will get from there animal and what powers there animal has. For Valley it was everything to get a spirit animal but Valley is the house slave to Emma of winter vale she figured she would be a slave and nothing more but Emma had known Valley since they where both little and hatched a plan in the dead of night she dressed Valley up as a noble and both girls head off to the spring of finding. To Emma's shock she receives no spirit animal and leaves Valley to meditate there is a huge explosion of magical energy when the smoke clears Valley stands up surrounded by dust a big wolf sits on her left and an eagle is perched on her right shoulder. A double summoning had not been done in over five hundred years and what the summoning represents is that the person is evenly balanced between dark magic and light the forces of darkness also known as the blood mages feel the shock wave from the summon and so do the mages of light but nether can manipulate her to there side so long as she is in the academy.
