The world is cruel, and Dareen Abu feels helpless.
She's just going with the flow of what society tells her to do: go to college, get your degree, and work for the rest of your life like a robot.
But her mind is always on her dreams: becoming a writer, finding love, and not having to worry about her finances.
Writing is her safe haven. She utterly adores romance and fantasies about it all day, inserting herself in her character's shoes for some thrill in her rather boring life.
Though her life is a lot greater than most people's, she notices her family's struggles. They came into the country with only a bag of items, after all; however, after fifteen years, they still haven't been able to break free from the minimum wage cage.
Not to mention that getting a job nowadays is harder than ever, which she's personally seen her father struggle with.
After six months, he finally lands a job, but it's another nursing home driving job that he isn't getting paid well for.
What he is good at is cooking. He may not be primarily passionate about it in this given moment since he's been in survival mode for the past fifteen years, but perhaps a cushy private chef job where rich people let him experiment with all kinds of organic goods and in return eat Michelin-star-worthy food, for which he gets paid well, would be a win-win situation for everyone.
But just how will Dareen help her father get a better job? And little does she know that perhaps she may benefit from her pursuit to help him.
