In a world where magic is collared and chained, Elias Thorne is a wildfire built of stone.
The Gatekeepers of the Central Empire rule with absolute, suffocating perfection. At the Grand Conservatory, young elites are taught to bind their elemental Spirits with heavy Eclipcite collars, draining the wild magic from the world to fuel a sterile, tyrannical society. Elias, a working-class "mud-slinger" from the outer rim, was only admitted to be a punching bag for the highborn. His Lithic Spirit, a simple geode named Pebble, is classified as heavy, inert, and useless.
But the Gatekeepers' science is flawed. Pebble isn't just rock-it is a Hearth, burning with a dormant, volcanic core of protective Vanguard power that the empire hasn't seen in centuries.
When Elias refuses to chain his Spirit, he accidentally ignites a rebellion. He forms an unbreakable pack of outcasts: a brilliant Architect who rewrites gravity with math, a towering Verdant giant, a wind-riding thief, and Aria-the flawless, untouchable highborn 'Ice Princess' who realizes the warmth of the mud is far better than the cold of her family's throne. Together, their unchained magic proves the High Council's greatest lie: wild magic isn't a rabid dog to be put down. It is the only thing that can save them.
Humiliated and terrified of the pack's true resonance, the High Council rigs the laws to expel Elias, branding him a Class-X Hazard. But Elias isn't running away to hide.
Exiled into the lethal, untamed Western Wilds, Elias and his pack embark on a suicide mission to the edge of the map. Guided by forbidden texts, they are hunting the Mythical Residues-the shattered, lost fragments of the ancient gods of Space and Time. With corrupt Inquisitors, elite assassins, and feral monsters on their heels, the pack must master the unchained wilderness before the empire hunts them down.
The Gatekeepers built a perfect, iron cage. But they forgot that the earth remembers how to burn.
