"You're making this a bigger thing than it needs to be."
It's hard to stay calm when the local wildlife starts talking back. For Bertholdt, an October afternoon walk through the woods was supposed to be simple. He had his cloak, his red cap, and a strict deadline to be home for supper. He didn't plan on meeting a sharp-tongued wren, and he certainly didn't plan on being snatched from the forest floor by a shadow in the sky.
Now, the world he knows is falling away beneath his boots.
Caught in the talons of a colossal, raven-like beast, Bertholdt is dragged into a realm hidden just above the clouds-a place where humans are little more than "cargo." With a cynical bird as his only guide and a flight path leading toward the ominous "Nest of Silences," Bertholdt has to learn one hard lesson fast: in this sky, you don't survive by running.
You survive by learning how to sail.
The woods have ears, the birds have voices, and Bertholdt is about to find out exactly where the ships go when they leave the ground.
