Sure, maybe she needed her Uncle Bufford to provide her with money while she is still job-hunting, but definitely not a man who would hold her close and whisper sweet nothings into her ear. One Wednesday, Mr Ambrose's private secretary, Simmons, had disappeared along with one of the important files he needed to upgrade his business and to drag his rivals down to ruins. *** If these two people meet during their time of need, what would happen? in before the storm, mr rikkard ambrose meets a few people who have a lasting impact on him, one in particular. pearl, was quite the girl then and despite his general distaste for her choice in husband, or the activities they participated in with him around, he remembered her distinctly. unlike many of the nameless sea of faces he had encountered in the past few years, she was something else. he didn't know why but he found himself running towards her counsel after lillian's rejection, other than the fact that the silence he had sought comfort in was replaced by incessant noise, which only let up when he slept.

Dalgliesh is seen as charming and friendly while Ambrose is viewed as rude and cold. Ambrose knows Lillian's persona, Dalgliesh doesn't and Lillian doesn't know the beast behind the mask. Both are alluring, both are wealthy. They are polar opposites, one hot, one cold. With both of them eager to get Lillian's attention the conflict between the two becomes more intense and what about the outcome? Who will Lillian choose? Dalgliesh or Ambrose? Daniel or Rikkard? Hot or Cold.

However, this time the stakes are higher, secrets are no longer hidden and the war between the two rivals is going to get more dangerous than ever. Surrounded by suitors, spies and traitors, Lilly will have to confront Lord Dalgliesh, bring back the file, and give answers about her frequent trips to her staunch feminist friend Patsy while she is at it. But will Lilly be able to keep her feminist ideals safe while dealing with her feelings and manage to evade the enemy at the same time or will she be caught in the crossfire?
