I can't tell you who I used to be. I don't even remember that myself. All I can recall are dark, empty, seemingly endless hallways. And every now and then being unable to control my own self. My body feeling numb and acting of it's accord. I never thought it'd end. And then it did. I wouldn't be at peace for too long though before I would forget things again. I don't know what else to say. There isn't much else to tell anyway. I don't know if I'll ever remember. I just want to forget what I did when I couldn't control myself.

Volume I introduces Kai, a reluctant yet resolute figure drawn into the orbit of a force known only as The Wicked. Set against a shifting world of forests, rains that write or refuse names, and towns ready to forget, the story builds around the confrontation between human will and something older, stranger, and smiling at the rules of reality. Throughout the volume, Kai uncovers fragments of the Wicked's presence: splinters of iron, rituals carved into birch groves, storms that seem to listen, and silences that seem deliberate. The Wicked itself is never simply monster or god, but a double-edged figure-mocking, patient, always nudging the world toward a threshold it isn't sure it wants crossed. Kai resists not out of pure defiance but out of love, the kind that invests itself as both shield and debt. Their defiance crystallizes in the closing scenes: the birch-ring forest bends like a ritual chamber, an iron splinter promises both harm and sentence, and The Wicked smiles at Kai with the satisfaction of a test nearly passed. At the cliffhanger ending, The Wicked steps through impossible exits-sky, story, history-splitting one path into two bodies and futures. It names the next movement simply: "Chase." Kai, refusing submission, runs after it, propelled by love and a world that itself is on the verge of rewriting. The forest closes like a book with a bookmark at the very page the reader longs for next.

Liminal lands- Legacy 1 and 2, final part Genre: short story/Young teen mystery In a city haunted by the past, Legacy Jackson is drawn back to her childhood after receiving a cryptic letter from her missing sister, Jamyra. Memories of their shared laughter and childhood secrets collide with the chilling reality of Jamyra's absence, leaving Legacy desperate for answers. As she searches through the remnants of their old neighborhood and the eerie halls of Lovelace Middle School, Legacy grapples with her fragmented memories. Each familiar sight stirs haunting echoes of what once was, and when she encounters a girl who eerily resembles her sister, Legacy feels a mix of hope and dread. With time slipping away, she must confront the ghosts of her past and unravel the mystery surrounding Jamyra's disappearance before she loses her sanity-or will she succumb to time like others before her? Author's Note This is only the second draft of the final part, parts 1 and 2 are good. I already have a long list of revisions, expansions, and corrections I plan to make in future drafts, but I wanted to release it before the Backrooms movie as a small tribute to liminal horror and the stories that inspired me. I'd also like to dedicate this draft to my students, whose enthusiasm for series like The Backrooms helped inspire me to finally finish and share it. Thanks for reading. - L.B

The SCP Foundation exists to secure, contain, and protect the anomalies that threaten reality. Most of them scream. Some of them bleed. Others rewrite the laws of the universe in obvious, violent ways. This one doesn't. SCP-005 is a key that opens anything. Not just doors - but boundaries, memories, systems, and ideas that were never meant to be accessed. Through fractured reports, personnel testimonies, civilian exposure, and an unsettling reader-insert perspective, Still Present explores what happens when containment doesn't fail loudly - but quietly, politely, and completely. Nothing explodes. Nothing escapes. And everything stays exactly where it shouldn't. You didn't open the file. You just kept reading. Reader discretion advised. Some things are more unsettling once you realize they were never locked at all. There is a door in her dreams that won't lock. When it fails, she becomes the barrier. A voice whispers from nowhere and everywhere, insisting it knows her, insisting it has always been there. When she wakes, the urgency fades - but the doors remain. And she starts to wonder how many she's been holding shut her entire life.

What starts as another restless night quickly spirals into something far more surreal. After playing anxiety inducing music to help her sleep, she enters a dream unlike any other, a towering hotel room, an uncertain family dynamic, and an absurd reason for being hunted, refusing to walk in a straight line. With her mysterious companions and an unlikely ally in Bruno Mars, she flees through an endless, shifting mall, only to escape into a world that refuses to stay still. As the ground tilts and reality distorts, she finds herself running backward, desperate to undo whatever has gone wrong. But when she finally wakes, something still feels... off. Because the world keeps turning.

A coastal resort town on Canada's Cape Breton Island, lost in a state of perpetual decay. Luminary Harbour isn't just forgotten-it's being unmade. Reality itself is fraying at the edges, consumed by a living anomaly lurking beneath the town. Its primary symptom: an unnatural fog that doesn't just obscure, but dissolves. Strange fogs roll in from the Atlantic, carrying whispers of those who vanished in the 90s. Their echoes are now heard through static-filled TV screens and phantom phone calls. The only ones who sense the truth are a group of outcast seventh-graders from the local middle school Film Club, led by Sophie Rushmore, a hard-of-hearing geek who sees the world through a filmmaker's lens. When Sophie vanishes into the fog one night, her best friend and twin brother are forced to confront the impossible. This is a story of liminal horror. It's the dread of pixelated glitches, forgotten websites, and the suffoking question: what is real? To love the Backrooms, Dreamcore, or the haunting aesthetic of the early 2000s is to recognize this place. Trapped in a town that reality itself is deleting, these teens must search for answers they might regret finding. The abandoned "Mirage Project" research station is reactivating, and the fractures in space have chosen them-not as victims, but as unwilling guides to a dimension that feeds on human thought and trauma. Their only weapon against the unraveling world is their fragile bond and the unique pain that makes each of them a target-and their only possible salvation. --- It's my book-series for several seasons with a rather deep and intense lore, which will be revealed throughout the story. This project is currently in development. Full narrative chapters will begin in Summer 2026. All characters, concepts, and the world of Luminary Harbour belong to the author Universam.
