I grew up on the banks of the Connecticut River. The town in which I've lived my whole life is tiny--so small in fact that it isn't even considered a full town. It's a small section of a larger district. This book is a portrait of my tiny life in this tiny town.

The story follows 15 year old Kordell, who has always gotten an insane amount of words, thus is deemed as selfish and inconsiderate of others, since he takes them for granted. One day, he starts receiving less words than he ever thought possible, and through his journey, we can see his growth as he learns to be a better listener and a better human being in general.
