A small fantasy awards focused on strong craft, atmosphere, and character work. Five categories, three slots each, one winner per category. If you write thoughtful, intentional fantasy and want honest engagement, The Goldenrod Awards is open for submissions. In-progress and completed stories are allowed. Mature violence/gore stories are allowed. Smut with a plot is not allowed. Fanfiction is not allowed. May the best win!

In the town of Hickory Creek, a strange rotten smell begins to spread through the streets. At first, no one thinks much of it. Then people start disappearing. No warnings. No evidence. Just empty spaces where they used to be. Eli, Sadie, and Cole decide to investigate, but the deeper they dig, the more wrong everything feels. Something is moving through their town-something unseen, something hungry, something that should not exist. And it's not finished yet.

Recently diagnosed with cancer, Kara Stevens is hospitalized, leaving Charlotte to deal with the delinquents known as the students of Everett High. Then one day, Charlotte meets a young man. Both Charlotte and the stranger are caught in the rain, meeting at a crossroads. Little did she know that this boy, this strange boy, would be her salvation. If only for a while. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So this is one of my first story, and it's definitely not my best work. I'm not taking it down for sentimental reasons, so you can still read it if you like. It's just personally not my favorite story or my best work. Maybe one day I'll rewrite it, who knows? ANYWAY, you have been warned. ENJOY!
