Basically a whole lot of denial until Meg sorts them both out. ~Side note - Gavin's parents die at the beginning which is why he has to look after his siblings so if mentions of death upsets you then reading this probably isn't the best idea. The Achievement Hunters are a company of bounty hunters primarily focused on relics riddled with unimaginable value. There are three departments. The Hunters, The Collectors and The Bosses. Recovering the relics are the Hunters' specialty as they are given something that can best be described as an aura -though much more efficient and active- which help them during missions. Michael, of course, belongs to that group. He'd been physically as well as emotionally trained for a countless number of possible Achievements and situations, but never for the Achievement he was about to encounter.

So I read this fic ages ago but it wasn't complete and it hadn't been updated since 2014 and I really want to finish it so I decided to finish it myself, however, all credit for the idea and the first chapter goes to jaeparker on archiveofourown and their fic was called 'your graduation'. This is their summary: Michael and Gavin grew up together. Inseparable. best friends for life. Until One day Gavin just stops talking to Michael entirely. Right when Michael needs his best friend most, he's gone in an instant. Gavin leaves Michael to deal with school, growing up, and the loss of both of his parents alone. I in no way claim any credit to the idea of this story, however all writing from chapter 2 onwards is entirely my own and I also edited the first chapter but the ideas are all based on the original story.
