Jaypaw, ThunderClan's newest Medicine Cat trainee, has just discovered something - he's in love with Hazeltail, a young she-cat who was made a warrior alongside Jaypaw's own siblings Hollyleaf and Lionblaze. As he struggles between his love for her and the Medicine Cat code, which forbids a romance involving a Medicine Cat, he finds himself in a love triangle as he realizes Mousewhisker, Hazeltail's brother, is in love with Jaypaw. And Jaypaw realizes Mousewhisker wouldn't be that bad of a partner. Now, stuck between two cats and his career, Jaypaw must figure out what to do, or StarClan may take away his abilities.

Bramblestar, leader of ThunderClan, has been possessed by Ashfur, and the three aforementioned cats must find a way to defeat him and the spirits of cats he controls. Additionally, they must reopen their connection with StarClan, as Ashfur cut StarClan off from the living world.

This story is the first in the Warriors what if series. It takes place while lionpaw, hollypaw and jaypaw were still apprentices. What if the underground tunnels never fell? What if heatherpaw became the leader she pretended to be? What if cats betrey there clans to follow the path of stars their ancestors have already laid out again. What if the dark forest won? Moons after they won, The three are forced to struggle against the will of the dark forest. Lionblaze is helping kits and queens sneak out, and is always punished for it. Dovewing is tortured into insanity, and is brainwashed to hate her loved ones. Jayfeather is forced to pick out the cats rebellion against the dark forest, even if it's his own kin. It's up to Ivypool, Icecloud, and Bumblestripe to restore clans, because if not Star Clan will truly be gone forever. ---------------------------------------------------------- The gray she-cat let out a cry of fear and huddled to the edge of the den. Brokenstar lunged at her and grabbed her scruff, throwing her to the ground. He took his claws along her flank, leaving deep, long, bleeding gashes. "Star Clan help me!" She wailed as she squirmed against the cold ground. Brokenstar sank his claws on her shoulder and got close to her face, his breath beating at her battered ear. "Star Clan is dead, Dovewing." He snarled as he leaned even closer, "Everyone you ever cared about let this happen to you." He whispered.
