There is no reason to complain or to worry. Everything is taken care of. But one day Lissie Turner finds an apple tree. She knows it should not be there. Growing food is forbidden. Only the government is allowed to grow food, and all plants, trees and meat are raised under the Domes. The government seized control of nature after the last war ended seventy years ago. Since then, life has been peaceful for the surviving people on earth. Everything is provided for. As long as you keep to the rules. But with the discovery of the apple tree, Lissie finds herself breaking the rules.
