Liz can see that he's just trying to put up a brave face but deep inside regales another story. It takes some drastic measure that leaves him worse for wear before she realizes what had happened. This story sets in during the events of the episode "Mr. Solomon" (3x17). Liz is about to marry Tom once again but Red still has something left to say. What's going to happen at this "Red Wedding"?
