This will be an issue-by-issue review of Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men written comic book series. The review will consist of a synopsis and commentary, and will be Joss's complete run on the series.

This is the story of a US Navy aircraft, call sign Gabriela Two Six or better known as Gabby Two Six. A US Navy C130-J Hercules cargo and transport aircraft assigned to Navy Squadron VR-210 out of a Navy base in Virginia. This story is also about the crew who flew the aircraft and especially Nathan 'Nate' Stevenson. Nate would start out as a Lieutenant flying Gabby as co-pilot, then rise in rank to be Gabby's pilot. Nate would attain the rank of Commander in his Navy career and still fly as Gabby's pilot. Nate would then be promoted to Squadron VR-210's Commanding Officer. Commander Stevenson and Gabby Two Six would one day face the ultimate challenge and survive. Gabby Two Six also had an incredibly beautiful admirer, Katheryn 'Katie' Shear. Katie had been on a career path she had always dreamed of, but a snow skiing accident confined her to a wheelchair. It changed everything for her! When Katie met Gabby Two Six, she would become a little jealous of her as she would vie for the affection of Nate Stevenson. Katie and Gabby would share Nate's affections and Katie would end up thanking Gabby Two Six for saving Nate Stevenson's life!" This story is also about two people, Katie and Nate, who had found each other by chance. Katie and Nate had found each other, and they would learn to live together in love, happiness and tragedy!
