For thirteen years, Teo was just a boy. An earthbender from a fishing town, orphaned young and raised at an Air Temple by the master who took him in, he grew up understanding the world between two elements otherwise diametrically opposed. He learned to earthbend. He learned Air Nomad philosophy. He learned to sneak out of the temple when he was supposed to be meditating.
Then, he airbends, and everything changes. Six years pass, and Teo has completed the education curated by the White Lotus. He can bend the four elements. He knows diplomacy, history, spirits, and the complicated legacy of Avatar Korra, whose tenure fundamentally transformed the relationship between humans and the Spirit World, the power dynamics between the Four Nation, and is the only past life Teo is able to turn to for guidance.
Now, for the first time, Teo leaves the classroom to help guide a world still in a time of transition. His first assignment takes him to the royal courts of the Fire Nation, where he finds a nation quietly being remade from within.
The Fire Sages, once respected spiritual leaders, have expanded into a powerful political movement promising to restore the Fire Nation's honor. Their influence has spread throughout political circles, private citizens, and even within the next heir to the throne, Prince Azuma. Science research is being defunded and anyone who asks the wrong questions finds themselves increasingly isolated.
Now, surrounded by politicians who speak in compliments instead of accusations and threats disguised as suggestions, Teo quickly realizes the Fire Nation has its own language of power...and he doesn't speak it. But, with a Water Tribe advisor assigned to him, his earthbending master of a childhood best friend, a former monk turned assassin with unclear loyalties, and a Fire Nation engineer caught in the crosshairs of his nation's strife, Teo is determined to restore balance and prove himself as the Avatar. This is the era of Teo.
