The story revolves around Mia, who decides to take her own life after the murder of her brother. However, she finds herself embodied in the character of Lorna, the villainess from a novel. Trapped in a Victorian world, she discovers that she is held captive by a kidnapper seeking revenge on Lorna's father. Mia realizes that she is caught between two identities, and her fate is intertwined with Lorna's. She strives to escape the mansion to save herself and distance herself from the capital.

Misfits are hunted, for the council has made everyone believe that they are not to be trusted for the tricks they can play on ones mind (really because their scared they can't control them). Lorna is one of many that can use their minds to speak from great distances to other misfits and speak to animals. There are many mind tricks these people can play but some use it for worse rather than good. I have read the book Obernewtyn and I really liked the setting so I've turned it into my own.
