Lo'ak just turned 17, with his brother passing away 3 years ago. Even though he still felt like he had killed his brother, the guilt was starting to fade as he got closer with tsireya. She made him feel less like an outcast, and more like he was actually part of the clan. Till one day when with tsireya , 3 navis from the reef clan came in just like he did a few years ago. It was Akeya, tsireyas younger cousin. Her family had just come back from travelling the past few years,apparently due to the conflict with the sky people. After they came,sky people started hunting animals. First tulkuns but eventually All of them. Akeya was only 13, quite troublesome like Lo'ak was. An outcast. She never really got on with anyone else. Just relied on tsireya to cover for her. Lo'ak noticed. She was exactly like him. He worried she would do what he did and get tsireya killed. I've never felt like this before. I've never lost this much before. I haven't felt at home in a long time. I've never loved like this before. I've never met anyone like you. I never thought that I would ever get up from this fall. ________ What's worse in this world than losing your parents at a young age? Not one thing! My camp counselor asked me the summer before 5th grade. "Spiders." "What scares you the most?" My best friend asked me one day in 6th grade. I had to think for a while. "I used to be scared of spiders, but not anymore. Now, I don't know what scares me." "Are you scared of death?" My mother asked me after her father died. "Not of death itself. More for the people I'll be leaving behind. I also don't want to get to the point in my life when I can't take care of myself. Being alive without living is worse than dying." "What is your worst fear?" My friends asked at a sleepover in 8th grade. I took a moment to consider the countless nights I have lain in my bed, wide-eyed, consuming myself with thoughts that circle me like sharks closing in on their prey. "Losing my memory of everything I've ever been," I said with a sense of finality, "That terrifies me. It's like losing eternity."
