Byrd uses a gorgeous letterhead to send a typed "gag" letter to Secretary of The Navy, James V. Forrestal. Ten typed pages are 10x7.5" and signed in 8/10 black fountain pen ink at the bottom. The letter is tanned a bit darker than the balance of the page from years of storage, but the piece still presents very well, with original mailing folds the only other condition issue worthy of note.
