He wanted to be a powerful man so he practiced magic until he was perfect. The one thing he would have to know was how to spin gold. He learned and he was the best. Belle came in one day to buy gold, it was love at first sight. They lived together for a long time. 28 years later, Bay had returned but he killed himself to make his father happy. Bay was missed but forgotten. Rumple had a saying after that, it was "Vilins don't get happy endings".
