Itoshii: A Tanka Collection began with an old Japanese word, "itoshii", meaning "beloved" or "darling." From that, grew a collection of tanka poems in its many forms - devotion, heartbreak, the slow return to yourself, and the realities.
Moreover, tanka poetry is spare by nature. Five lines, and a handful of syllables. Therefore, that restraint felt right within this subject, since love rarely announces itself loudly.
