This a brief description from my own personal context of the psychopharmacutical drug known "LSD". This drug was invented by the Swiss chemist Albert Hoffman in the 1938 but not only till 1943 was is truly synthetically created. Hoffman worked under the pharmaceutical company know as Sandoz researching ergot alkaloids and artificial natural occurring chemical bonds. LSD effects on consciousness are still not heavily researched till this day due to the schedule 1 drug rating made by the U.S government even though the C.I.A used this drug on unwilling U.S civilians to observe the psychological effects, resulting in most cases putting individuals through psychological torture so gruesome it left the individuals incapacitated for life. This process began in the 1960's under the secret project name MK-ULTRA. Mk-Ultra had at least 120 sub-projects dealing with the alteration of consciousness and psychological torture through the use of psychoactive narcotics like LSD and others. Hoffman's account of the whole entire creation of the drug and it's purpose and risks can be found in his book. "LSD: My Problem Child" This entry is simply for my own understand of how it has shaped and helped understand myself in ways that I'm still discovering. I believe LSD holds the key to truly unlocking our capabilities of arbiters of meaning and creation. In my experience it has helped gain insight into hard to reach places within my mind. There is no present day research that I'm aware of that is trying to prove the psychological benefits that it has on the human condition.
