This is an imagining of what a boat scene in season 3 of Anne With An E could have been like. (Written before it came out.)

Alycia hoped for this to be a good idea, staying in a dorm with a college drop out who came back after a year of adventure wasn't that of a romantic idea after all. But Alycia needed money to help her family and Lucas needed to complete his studies and go back to take his families business in Paris. Gilbert Blythe has a serious problem when it comes to Anne Shirley-Cuthbert - he stares at her too much! "Do you believe in soulmates?" he asks, half-joking, half-wanting to know the answer. "Well, no" she says "I mean, not in the 'I know you from another past life' way... but I do believe in the rare happening of two people that meet by pure and random chance and they just... something just clicks, you know?"

The story kicks off in the late 1800's~ 𝗚𝗶𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗕𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗱. 𝗛𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗼𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵. He never realized it, but he has a tendency of liking girls and boys. "Cole... will you go out with me?" silence.... "We'll have to keep it secret"
