Lucas Friar, the new kid, is kind of sort of a nerd. He devotes all the time he has to get good grades and study for tests. He never gets detention and most definitely doesn't get involved in fights. His best friend is the dorky but extremely intelligent Farkle Minkus. Yet, he is haunted by his past. Maya Hart, the rebel, is kind of sort of intimidating. She doesn't let anyone cross her, and the only person she trusts is a cheerful girl named Riley Matthews. She's the one you'd hear arguing with the teacher, or getting in constant trouble. However, she has a life no one knows about. And the two meet. They become friends, if you could call it that, but they soon come to ask each other, "Are you who I think you are?" - high school au / pairings: lucaya, rilaya, larkle, riarkle trigger warnings: underage drinking, minor violence, cussing.

Eventually, Riley moved on and Maya and Lucas had a relationship. They lived normal teenage lives- arguing, forgiving, loving - until Lucas kills someone. Maya and Lucas run away. They eventually get caught. Maya goes home with Riley, and Lucas is sent to New York then straight to jail. Now, it's been years since Lucas was arrested. Lucas gets out of jail just in time to find out that Maya's moved on. What will happen?
