He tells her to self-harm, that she's nothing, and that she should go kill herself. Dylan, her brother, buys her front row tickets and backstage passes to a 5sos concert for free, since his job is a security for the arena. When she meets the boys, they all fall for her hard, but she only notices Luke.

Katherine works at a record shop on the other side of town a certain Luke Hemmings walks in, a boy she dreams of meeting.

Cliche quiet shy high school girl meets the beautiful, talented mr Hemming's in music class. Will she fall for him like the rest of the girls or will she resist him....

Ashton is a powerful CEO of the company Hello Records. He is rich, handsome, powerful and good at seeking out talented singers. Luke's average. He's the school's wallflower. Luke's best friend is Michael, his mum's best friend's son. Luke is talented, but very shy and insecure. When Michael signs Luke up for a competition on Hello Records, Luke shyly sings, hoping his entry gets rejected like the other millions. What he doesn't expect, is that the guy in charge of the competition, Calum Hood, is off on vacation and the job is left to the CEO, who chooses Luke. Luke and Ashton have a very brisk boss-and-singer relationship, but at a one night stand, a lot changes.

When Ashton comes out to his parents they aren't very pleased. They basically disown him. When Ashton resorts to cutting and the love of his life, and bestfriend Luke sees it doesn't make matters much better in Ashton's opinion considering he really does not want to tell Luke any of the reason why. When Luke sees Ashton has cuts again he's devastated. How could this perky young boy possibly have such a rough at home life Luke wonders.
