It started with a dream. A market that looked like my hometown, except the roads were wrong. A gym that stood where it never should have been. An old wooden bench that had disappeared years ago. And a stranger whose face I can no longer remember. I woke up remembering only one thing- His smile. Every time I close my eyes, I find myself returning to the same dream. A place where memories never fade, where the past still exists, and where "home" feels exactly the way I remember it. Maybe he's only a dream. Maybe I'm only holding on to a feeling. But if dreams can make me miss someone I've never truly met... Then why does it feel like I'm trying to find my way back to him?

A Narrative and Psychological Analysis of a Mythological Dream.

Author's Note - "Sacred Arrow" (English Translation) Sacred Arrow is the third novel in my anthro cycle, written in Russian 2021-2025. If you enjoy anthro lions, lionesses, or felines generally, this may be for you. The setting blends the late Roman Empire with the Middle Ages and faint touches of the Enlightenment. The cycle centers on the Ashai-Keetrah, a mystical priestess order in the Suung Empire. Sacred Arrow follows the Messengers - rare lionesses within the Ashai-Keetrah who practice the Craft: sending Messages through dreams across any distance. The footnotes, absent from the Russian original and added here for context (mostly established in the cycle's first novel), feature two voices - S. and Z. - who argue with each other and occasionally with the text itself. Treat them as interpretive companions, not reference material. The translation is my own and attempts to preserve the syntactic and semantic structures of the Russian original; the prose is dense by design. And throughout the unraveling of this mystery, Davids can't discount the possibility that he is receiving guidance from a beautiful slain woman, via his surreal lucid dreams.
