Realisation hit you as soon as you muttered the words.. "I volunteer as tribute." You were saving your friend, your family, your covey by doing this. Wasn't it worth it? Now Lucy Gray wouldn't be the bet lost in the reaping. You had taken her place. You were the sacrifice. And with your sacrifice, came a new beginning. A future with one of the people you'd sworn to hate the most. And even if the future would not last for much longer, you soon came to realise that the people from the Capitol were not as bad as you had originally thought. Starting with your new mentor, Snow. It seemed the 10th Hunger Games, had already begun.

Lucy Gray is Reaped. The Covey each handle it in different ways. When she comes back, you're all not sure how much of her she's left behind. - You are nothing but hatred and anger and desperation- a tall boy with soulful brown eyes somehow carries the same anger, but kindness, too. - Lucy Gray runs away, as she said she would, and Snow goes to the Capitol, as you knew he would. What you didn't know is just how much wreckage he'd bring: no music at the Hob means the Covey lose their primary clientele, and with the new tesserae system, it means you all have a reason to add your names to the Reaping again and again, and that's only the start of a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad era.

Join Ash and Mallory in the arena of a ruined city, a forbidden love, and the constant feeling of doom underneath each step you take.

This is the beginning of a development in the 'Hunger Games' story; The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. It would potentially explore an alternative ending to one of the main characters, Lucy Gray Baird. Please read on if you have read this book and know the story. So far, it is only one chapter, but that is because I wanted you to read it and get the feel of my writing, since this is my first ever Wattpad story (!).
