The flux system runs through all of it - the infrastructure, the institutions, the implant at the base of every throat - and the dashboard always reads stable. Everyone's implant sits flush. Seamless. The new models barely look like hardware at all. Naoki Kisaragi's doesn't. It's older, bulkier, and it has never quite fit the way the system expects it to. He keeps his collar up, his sleeves down, and his questions to himself. Somewhere in the part he built from gray market parts, something pulses in five colors that don't exist in any official manual. Naoki is a second-year engineering student at SNU with a robotics competition to win and a group of friends who are starting to feel like home. He grew up watching the Rekkō - the flux response teams who walk into the zones everyone else is told to leave - and has been building toward something ever since. More importantly, if the person he has been living as the past few years is a mere illusion injected into him by the norms of a hierarchial society then who is he really? Follow Priyam through his adventures as he overcomes traumatic experiences, tries to adjust to his new upside down life, and discovers the horrendous history that his civilazation is build upon while trying to figure out his place in the world.
