In a dark and misty forest nestled on the outskirts of a quaint village, young Luna Cross sets out on a brave journey to visit her ailing grandmother. Armed with nothing but a basket of provisions, she navigates the twisting paths, determined to bring comfort to her beloved relative. However, as Luna nears her grandmother's cottage, she senses something amiss. Inside, instead of finding her grandmother lying weakly in bed, Luna discovers a horrifying scene-the monstrous Beast, with jagged teeth and glowing eyes, stands over the bed where her grandmother's clothes lie in disarray. Luna realizes with a chill that the Beast has devoured her grandmother and now wears her skin. Terrified but resolute, Luna faces the Beast, who cunningly disguises itself as her grandmother. With each step closer, Luna notices subtle details that betrays the Beast's deception-the unnaturally large hands, the height, and the mismatched voice. As the creature lunges towards her, intent on adding Luna to its macabre menu, she fights back with the only weapon at hand-a sliver dagger her grandmother had hidden under the bed. In a desperate struggle, Luna manages to wound the Beast, revealing its true monstrous form beneath the grandmother's disguise. With newfound strength and courage, Luna presses her advantage, driving the dagger deep into the Beast's heart. As the creature let's out a haunting wail, Luna watches in awe and horror as the monstrous facade fades away, leaving behind only a pile of dust and bones.

Kerry and Miles love each other, had the sappiest relationship ever. Kerry still has panic attacks. Miles tries to be a good boyfriend. It's a work in progress. Warnings: Panic attacks and consent issues. Happy ending, however.

So it doesn't always happen, just pops up at random moments that were glaringly obvious in hindsight. For Kerry, it was a reminder of what Miles was, of what he was as well. Who ever heard of a dog and a mouse as close as them? Or 5 times Miles' hybrid instincts kicked in, and 1 time Kerry's did.
