Lunella Lafayette is a 13-year-old genius and Oteng Nuru is a 14-year-old living with their parents and grandparents in the Lower East Side of New York City. One day, they activates a portal and a red Tyrannosaurus and brown Bulldog steps out of it. With the support of their friend Casey and Amadeus, they becomes a superheroes named Moon Girl and Iron Cyrax and names the dinosaur and bulldog "Devil Dinosaur and Lockjaw".

In a desperate attempt to be welcomed by the Avengers as Tony Stark had once welcomed her, Lunella tries to upgrade her suits but gets caught in the process. But instead of arresting her, The Avengers give her a second chance to prove herself.
