When the Doctor takes Lewis and Angela to 1896 to visit some old friends, a group of three Silurians far from home arrive with some bad news. There is a Silurian fleet on its way to Earth, with one aim: to reclaim their home planet. However, when another race puts the Silurian's existence in danger, they can do nothing but team up with the Doctor and his friends to stop them. The question is, though, will they stop them in time? Para o episódio The Snowmen, foi lançado o conto O Demônio na Fumaça. Centrada na cidade de Londres em final do século XIX, o conto tem a Madame Vastra, o guerreiro Sontaran Strax e a companheira Jenny Flint como protagonistas, contando também com Harry, um garoto criado em um orfanato e que acaba, sem querer, entrando numa enrascada com um diabólico inimigo escondido na névoa.
