At Mecklenburg Charlotte County, North Carolina, a hideous crime took place. It wasn't murder because murder would have been too humane, it was destorting the body and soul of a human being, stripping it of its humanity. Ten years passed but the wounds never healed, the scar on her face reminded her of her true identity, yet she worked every day on that oath but things got complicated when she had to face her darkest fears again.

Test Subject is a nameless stray cat who has only ever been mistreated and when she is taken in by a dangerous scientist it's an easy decision not to trust her. Then something changes their whole relationship. Test Subject is given a way to finally express herself. Is it worth it to finally place your trust in someone? What if they have the opposite intentions to you? Aella is a 'mad scientist' who has her mind set on creating something to change the world. She is determined not to do harm to the world but as her name suggests she is a whirlwind of destruction and seems to be consistently travelling down an evil path. She eventually gets a 'pet' who she thinks may help bring her down to Earth. However there seems to be more to this cat than she first thought. This is my first story so don't be judgy people. It's the story a cat and the power of communication.

This is a short story I did for a local fanfiction contest (I won!), using characters from the story "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson. It would help if you've already read that, but if not, perhaps you'll still find some entertainment in this. It features a bunch of characters from the novel, as well as a few I made up. While I was writing this, I envisioned it as an old black and white horror movie, and that's how it plays out in my mind when I read it.

"The Mind Control Machine" is a cautionary tale about the dangers of playing with forces beyond our control and the devastating consequences of unchecked ambition.
