When Merlin shows Arthur his secret, he doesn't take it so well. He banish Merlin from Camelot and his return will be punished by death. But soon after Arthur have send Merlin away he regrets it. The next year he tries to find his friend, but fails. Suddenly he gets other thinks to worry about when Morgana attacks and she is not alone.

Initial Soulmate AU When Uther catches sight of a letter being passed to his son from his manservant, it consumes his mind until he decides to do the only logical thing: break into his sons room and try to find it. What he didn't expect was the letter to be a love letter, one of many written from his sons soulmate M.'E'.A: Merlin Ambrose. Starting at the beginning of Season 4, Lancelot and Merlin manage to close the rift without a sacrifice. With Arthur curious about magic, Merlin finds himself revealing his talents to the most trusted of the knights and to the prince. Together they decide that they will bring magic back to Camelot when Arthur becomes king. Also, a funny Merlin meme in every chapter. For no reason, just cause I liked them. And I don't own Merlin, obviously. Just the story.

Arthur figures out Merlin has magic/Merlin tells him - this story has two alternative versions of chapter one but the rest is the same. Both begin in season 5 episode 5 when Arthur has to decide whether to save Mordred by legalising magic. What follows is how the story might have played out if Merlin had revealed his magic/Arthur found out about Merlin's magic at this stage - would Mordred still have joined Morgana?
