The kingdom was in chaos because of the recent invasion of the kingdom of Ferera. The kingdom of Etherna lost numbers of warriors from the war, and now even women ranging 21-45 years old will be trained to be a warrior that will defeat the other kingdom. Those women who cannot endure the training will become a servant or an entertainer (whore) of the men warriors or if liked by the King, she will be bedded by the recently crowned King and throw them away to other men. Khaliana never liked the new King, she heard about him when she skipped to the capital, they said that the King is a great prince and done lots of things when he was still the crown prince however he was a womanizer. She will make sure not to stumble towards the King and be out of people's sight every time. She will make sure to become a warrior since it's her only choice.
