Another bird joins the magpies. "Even luckier... three for a wedding," Des says, raising an eyebrow, still smiling that boyish smile.
Theodore's face warms. "That's not even a magpie. It's a pretender," he brushes off.
"We'll have a pretend wedding, then," Des says. He means a wedding for either of them, because they've both seen the magpies, nothing untoward, of course not, but the words still make his face flame.
