Mai was not a fan of triviality. Actions demanded intent, gifts required purpose. What was the point of a 'present' with no meaning behind it? What was the point of thoughtless actions, of careless gifts? Simply put - there wasn't one. Mai knew this firsthand. (Mai often wonders if she is enough. Zuko knows she is.)

"No! No, no no, NO!" His shouts could be heard through the corridors of the prison. The two women laughed. The cold burned his bare chest as he heaved, a pathetic attempt to grasp any air he could. He could feel her hot breath near his neck. He tried to get away, but his arms wouldn't let him get far enough and his legs felt like jelly. He was trapped. He could feel the towering figure of the girl in front of him as she stared down at him intently. He felt her small hands cup his face and pull it put to look at her. She closed the distance between them and the woman behind him chuckled as she rubbed his chest. He felt the world spinning around him, unable to fight off the two of his attackers. The throbbing pain in his head intensified and his ears started to ring. He began to give in to the lulling comfort of darkness. Before he knew it, his entire body fell limp in their hands, unknowing of anything that aspired next. Or Zuko seriously loses his cool, but it's completely warranted given the month-long torture he had to endure. Mai and Zuko had just told their vows to each other. Now that their eternal love is sealed, the new Queen cannot wait to consume her marriage with her new wedded husband : the Firelord Zuko.

The crowd whistled its approval before gradually dispersing, and Mai sent him a lethal glare as she approached him. Zuko expected her to storm past, but instead she paused at his side, closing her eyes as her face became expressionless once more. "You always leave before it's over," she murmured. Their shoulders were almost touching. "I know you of old." And then she was gone. (Maiko Much Ado About Nothing AU. You don't need to be familiar with the play to read, but bonus points if you are. :P)

"Love Story Switch-Up: Take two characters in an established romance and switch up their dynamic! You've been assigned... *spins wheel* Mortal Enemies! Congrats!" Mai and Zuko are mortal enemies. You know, fighting on opposite sides of the war and all that jazz. The problem? They've got a past. They kind of like each other, too. Life's complicated like that.

(Second part in the "fire lily" trilogy, but can be read as a standalone.) Zuko had been acting... strange. As in, stranger than usual. And Mai, who was more than intelligent enough to piece context clues together, was certain of the cause. That damn war meeting. (Mai will always be his fire lily. If only Zuko knew how to tell her that. Mid-canon Maiko angst and hurt/comfort.)

"Oh, Mai." Azula took a step towards her, reaching out with her index finger to trace a solitary tear as it fell down Mai's face, following its path with a sharp, scarlet nail. "What could I possibly have to gain from lying to you? Here? Now?" (Zuko has been banished. Mai finds out. tw: mentions of blood and an emotional breakdown.)

Zuko's eyes widened, the blood draining from his face. Mai never cried. "What? What happened?!" "Oh, I don't know," Azula said, shrugging nonchalantly, though her eyes glinted with a malicious mirth. "But if I had to guess... Maybe it had something to do with the royal advisors talking about what a shame it is that someone as dull and plain as her is going to be the next Fire Lady of our great country -" Zuko didn't wait for his sister to finish, turning on his heel and sprinting back down the hallway that led out of the palace and into the main courtyard. (Mai will always be his fire lily. If only Zuko knew how to tell her that. Young!Maiko fluff with a dash of hurt/comfort.)

The Order of the White Dragon is a secret elite group of women whose main objective is to protect the throne of the Fire Nation. This Order was established a thousand years ago by the Fire lady to protect her son, the crown prince of the fire nation. Over the years, the Order of the White Dragon transcended the boundaries of the four nations. In present day, Mai, Suki and Princess Yue are the agents sent by the elders to protect Prince Zuko, the rightful heir to the Fire Nation throne. Firelord Ozai ordered Zuko to govern Ba Sing Se, his intention is to get his son killed in battle. Mai is a member of the Order, she tries to keep Zuko alive despite being ordered by Azula to kill him. No Banishment AU. MAIKO. Updates monthly!

This takes place 12 years after the 100 year war. this is all calculated and based off of logical events based on LoK and ATLA and will explore the 70 years between Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra. It includes plenty of kataang, sukka, and maiko. Maybe a little exploring with other ships too?
