Years have passed since Emma, Rikki, and Cleo have last seen each other. They have moved on from the time they had together in the Gold Coast to pursue careers and families. One night, Lewis heads to Mako Island to do some experiments and tests, still desperate for answers; and his life changes forever. Lewis should have known it was a terrible idea to go to Mako Island alone on the night of a full moon.

Cleo has a cousin that lives in America. They haven't seen each other in soooooo long. Since they were very little and Percy's mum married that horrid man Gabe. Finally, they are reunited when Aunt Sally decides it will be good to see Cleo and Kim along with their father. Percy has only 2 mortal cousins, one of which he has never met but is the younger sister of his other, Cleo. He cannot remember a lot about her, only that she lives in Australia by the coast and her dad is his mom's brother. When Sally decides Percy, Paul, their few-months-old baby and herself should go visit her brother, will both Cleo and Percy keep their secrets?

Erik is back, and he has a plan: to take all the moon ring stones and forge them into one huge stone to reopen the merman chamber on Mako Island. Sirena, Mimmi and Ondina are put on the case by the mermaid council, and with the help of Zach, Evie, Nixie and Lyla, must stop Erik. But when they have the stones from their rings stolen, they realise they need help from Mermaids who don't have moon rings... Humans that have transformed into mermaids. They manage to find some up the coast from where they live: four girls called Cleo, Emma, Rikki and Bella. Together they work to stop Erik, but they don't know that Erik has been working with Charlotte, Cleo's arch enemy who knows their mermaid secret, and Dr Linda Denman, a scientist who knows all about their mermaid secret too...
